Are Muslims victims of vote bank politics?

Following are the excerpts to indicate how Muslims in India survived a life in dread and agony in the rule of BJP dominated parties.

After the demolition of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the violent terror triggered. In the name of encounter and interrogation, some of those Muslims who went for fajr (dawn) prayer were rounded up and put them for grilling. It was the norm in every town and village. Some were subjected to detention, be they were old or young, but the lonely ladies were put to hardships to run pillar to post to save the arrested. They were lacking funds to release them or to maintain their daily life.

The Muslims and Hindus lived as close as brothers did and they never failed to exchange pleasantries between them, be it a town and village. After the Rath Yathra, a sudden metamorphosis took place, the Hindu and Muslims rift was quite often and in rampant.

In an incident when a dead animal’s skin was peeled, the entire Muslim community was attacked. A missionary from Australia Graham Steeve, a social worker for leprosy patient in Orissa, burnt alive with his son and daughter. Churches were attacked and they were viewed with great suspicion.

Godhra was a horrific incidence where in thousands of innocent Muslims were killed mercilessly. Those top leaders who had rants about Hindutva and Akhanda Bharath are seeking now an alliance for a marriage with minorities for the vote bank. And These are top leaders who were present when the Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992 and they successfully orchestrated it. They even wished to insert Hindutva in text books.

We are blessed with wisdom and intelligence. Let us act in sensible manner taking the past as lesson. Please read the following analysis:

Excerpts of L.K.Advani’s speech to Vinay Kumar - Courtesy The Hindu Apr.9.2009

Vinay Kumar: The BJP is criticized for returning to the Ram Temple issue when elections are round the corner.
L.K.Advani . The issue of the Ram Temple has always been there, it touches the faith of millions in our land… The sad part is that Muslims have been victims of vote bank politics and that is the main reason behind their social, economic and educational backwardness.

History text-books :This article is based upon the author’s opening remarks to an one day seminar organised by the History Society of Hindu College, University of Delhi, on 5th March 2003, on the theme of the revision of the books.

Ever since the Bharatiya Janta Party-led NDA government has come to power at the centre, the issue of the history text-books for schools produced by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been much in focus and debate. The earlier text-books, written during the Congress regime in the nineteen seventies and the eighties have been under attack by the Hindutva forces.

Muslims are themselves responsible for their miserable condition.

They should live like younger brothers in India.
By nature the Hindus are very kind hearted but the Muslim fundamentalism has forced them to do the acts like Babri mosque demolition.

Brajesh,
If you read my blog carefully you will understand that the Hindus and Muslims lived here as close brothrs, exchanging pleasantries. Only after Rathyathra, from kanyakumari to Kashmir, the Hindu Muslim rift arose.

Your are speaking about fundamentalism.
It is Hindutva’s fundamentalism and adament nature that demolished Babri Masjid. Your advice to live like younger brother means seems to me if I am not mistaken, live like second grade citizen. The Indian Constitution Guaranties the equal citizenship rights to all the citizen of India, be it a Hindu,Muslim, Christian,Sikh, and Parsi etc. Because being in majority faith,it does not mean to dominate the minorities.

You are right Shafee
Rath Yatra By L.K. Advani changed the course of Indian politics. I think rise in terrorist activities is also related to Rath Yatra.
It’s the majority fundamentalism that has made the minorities insecure.
Ultimately Advani is responsible for this entire situation.

Sita was a foundling, discovered in a furrow in a ploughed field, and for that, reason is regarded as a daughter of Bhudevi, the Goddess Mother Earth. She was found and adopted by Janaka, king of Mithila-Jankapur (present day Nepal) and his wife Sunayana. Since she was the princess of Mithila, she was (and is also) known as Maithili.
Apart from Ayodhya,Janakpuri which is in Nepal is also equally important place. Pilgrims from India do go and worship the place. It is really interesting.

Congress to expose Advani’s Hindutva at Gandhi Nagar

By Andalib Akhter, TwoCircles.net,

New Delhi: Congress party is all set to expose BJP’s Hindutva at its hinterland. The party has decided to highlight the issue of demolition of over 290 temples in Gujarat, particularly in Gandhinagar. Modi government had demolished over 290 big and small temples in the name of development causing much resentment in the local people. BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani is seeking re-election from Gandhinagar.

Local citizens had expected that Advani would prevent Modi from ‘irreligious’ demolition but the local MP never showed his displeasure against Modi’s ‘bulldozers. Till now, Advani has not uttered a word of sympathy nor has promised to rebuild the demolished temples.

Talking to TwoCircles.net on phone the congress candidate from Gandhinagar Suresh Kumar Patel said: “This is very emotional issue for us. These people have demolished 300 temples and now they are talking of construction of temple in Ayodhya”. He said that people of Gujarat are very angry over the anti religious activity of Gujarat government. “Even Advani did not speak a word when temples were razed” he said adding the leader of opposition rarely visit the constituency.

Claiming that this time Advani would face defeat by Congress, he said he was a local and now the local people would no more tolerate the double standards of BJP. Patel is currently an MLA from Kalol near Gandhinagar.

Here too a senior leader of the party told this correspondent that the congress would also raise the issue at national level to expose BJP

Modi, considered the poster boy of Hindutva, had launched a demolition drive against illegal structures including temples in November last. Big protest were taken out against Modi over the issue

A “Mandir Bachao Sangharsh Samiti” was also formed but Modi bulldozer stopped only after demolition worked was completed. Sunil Oza, a former legislator of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who later formed Maha Gujarat Janata Party (MJP), said at that time that: “Modi is a true successor of Mahmud Gazni, Babar and Aurangzeb.”

There is no counting of temples that Babar demolished.
Bharat was a peaceful Hindu nation before the arrival of Muslims here. Muslim invaders ruined the great Bharat.
